Norma Padilla
Legal Assistant and Manager of Tax Problem Resolution Division

Subject Matter:

Learn from Norma Padilla, a Legal Assistant, with over ten years experience. She presently manages the tax problem resolution division of John F. Tolson, Attorney at Law. Norma sees her responsibility to Attorney Tolson as a support.  Her specific responsibilities range from conducting initial contact interviews, scheduling clients, working with clients to gather information, prepping the attorney for his time with clients, gathering and building supportive documentation for cases, assisting in analyzing cases, as well as preparing and finalizing documentation submitted to the IRS.
  
Norma also participates in conference calls with the IRS on behalf of clients. She has the ability to help others see the "big picture" of how they can be an asset in their firm's TAPeR practices.  Norma will fully cover all aspects of the support staff responsibilities of tax problem resolution cases starting before the first call through the conclusion and follow-up of the case. She will discuss:

- Forms used in a tax problem case and how to complete them
- Correspondence with clients and the IRS
- Tracking of cases for due dates
- Collection of fees
- How to prepare a review-ready case for your attorney
- How to protect the firm from malpractice
- What you should never say to a client

Norma will cover proper set-up of case files, effective data gathering, and case preparation methods that will reduce practitioner time on every case by fifty percent. She'll include step-by-step instructions and checklists that your Administrative Assistant can put to work in your practice immediately.  Q & A periods will be available throughout the two days.

Speaker Bio:
NORMA PADILLA, LEGAL ASSISTANT,
MANAGER OF TAX PROBLEM RESOLUTION DIVISION,
began her career in management, organization and personnel training.  She has built on these skills throughout her 20-year career.  She entered the legal profession in 1995 as an Office Manager and Legal Assistant to John F. Tolson, Jr., Attorney at Law in Orange Park, Florida.

In 2002 Norma was invited by Attorney Tolson to organize and develop a Tax Problem Resolution Division for his Law Firm.  She has been managing the day-to-day Tax Problem Resolution Case Law as well as developing and promoting long-term growth for his Tax Law Division.  To begin the task of establishing and managing this division, Norma attended numerous training seminars for Tax Problem Resolution and continues to build her knowledge in the area of Tax Problem Resolution through additional ongoing continuing education on a regular basis. 

Norma's specialty has become identifying the goal and organizing and motivating individuals to best accomplish the identified goal.  She has used this ability to organize groups from 2-100 to see and be motivated to accomplish large projects.  Her innate organizational skills, people skills, public relations, motivation of others, public speaking and precise communication skills make her a positive asset to whatever project she undertakes.
