Ethics Committee (EC) Duties
The ASTPS Board of Directors goal is to have a strong ethical standard to guide members in their conduct as taxpayer representatives. The COE should provide a means by which the disciplinary committee may evaluate member performance in our practice niche. Development of several illustrative scenarios accompanied by both the appropriate and inappropriate responses is anticipated.
Ethics Committee Members: Continuing Professional Education Committee (CPEC) Duties The ASTPS Board of Directors (BOD) goal is to continue to provide a superior slate of educational programs and establish high standards that will distinguish ASTPS members as the preeminent taxpayer representatives. The CPEC provides a structure that assures members to maintain their professional skills in effective taxpayer representation. The CPEC reviews the Certified Tax Resolution Specialist (CTRS) program and suggests possible enhancements presented to the BOD for consideration.
Continuing Professional Education Committee Members: Disciplinary Committee (DC) Duties
The ASTPS Board of Directors (BOD) provides a fair and impartial means to evaluate complaints received from the general public about the professional conduct of a member. The DC provides structure to assure all sides of a controversy receive a fair hearing and the opportunity to state their case. The DC reviews existing disciplinary procedures and suggests enhancements that can be presented to the BOD for consideration. The DC recommends resolution of a controversy and recommends revocation of membership if they deem such action appropriate.
