Gary began his legal career as a member of the New York State Bar employed as an attorney through the U.S. Treasury Department's Honors program and served as counsel to the Internal Revenue Service and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney through the Justice Department. As an attorney for the Government, Gary received numerous Special Act merit awards for outstanding legal work. He also served on national task forces relating to policy and procedures implemented by the Internal Revenue Service. Gary entered the private sector and formed the partnership, Bluestein & Muhlbauer, P.C., specializing in tax controversy. In addition to his law practice, Gary is a Professor at the University at Buffalo Law School where he has taught Tax Practice & Procedure for the last fifteen years. He is an entertaining speaker who regularly gets top ratings. He is the author of professional books and articles.
